IS Toolkit – communications & awareness campaign

How the IS Toolkit has been communicated and what’s the plan for future communications?

The overall plans of The Scottish Government in terms of  Information Governance and Security, were initially communicated via DL (2015) 17 ” Information Governance and Security Improvement Measures 2015-17″; the IS Toolkit being part of this package of measures.

The Toolkit has been presented at different forums, including the former National Information Sharing Board, the National Data Management Board, NHS Information Governance Leads Forum, SOLAR (Society of Local Authority Lawyers & Administrators in Scotland) and some Data Sharing Partnership and Digital Boards and groups of interest as requested, for example at last Child Protection Nursing, Midwifery and AHP (Scotland) (CPNMAHP).

There plans to present the Toolkit at other events, including but not exclusively, SOCITIM, COSLA Annual Conference 2016,  NHSScotland Annual event 2016, BCS webcasts and at a series of focused workshops including General Practitioners and 3rd Sector organisations.

The Toolkit has been also publicised trough this new website, which aims to consolidate fora, communications and resources available around Information Governance across the public sector in Scotland.

A series of short but specialised workshops and webcasts are planned for the next year in order to cover key aspects of the data sharing, including how topics and expert advice for those at the sharp end of the data sharing, like the impact of new EU regulation in existent and new agreements, dealing with consent across agencies, efficient negotiation of data sharing matters in complex settings, sharing with the 3rd sector etc.

A Minister’s Forward is expected within the forthcoming weeks.

Territorial Data Sharing Partnerships and specific groups of interest are invited to contact The Scottish Government’s  Assurance & Governance Team (Contact Us) in order to organise practical training and awareness sessions.
