Use of data for the EAVE-II

The EAVE-II research project is a joint project between Public Health Scotland and several Scottish Universities.  It will provide real-time surveillance and research on the COVID-19 pandemic in Scotland and will permit th estimation of risk to the whole population and relatively small sub-groups by the use of data collected from GP practices on 5.4million individuals living in Scotland.  This project has been scrutinised by the Public Benefit and Privacy Panel and has support in relation to the use of data by Royal College of General Practitioners in Scotland and the British Medical Association Scottish GP Committee.

In order to undertake these studies, GP data has been extracted by NHS NSS as data processor  and provided to PHS (data controller) who anonymise the data by removing all patient identifiers.  This data is only  available for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic after which appropriate deletion of data will occur.

EAVE II  data will remain within the National Safe Haven of Public Health Scotland, with access strictly controlled.
